State Motto: Alaska: 11,623 Eskimos Can't Be Wrong!
Music: Widespread Panic - Love Tractor
Found $10 in the bottom of my purse today when I was cleaning it out to transfer stuff to my new purse. Rawk. Also, the boss at work turned off the Christmas music for me that plays over the loud speakers 'cause he knows I hate it. It was weird to hear how silent our store actually is. Since no one shops there.
Work is trying to enforce the dress code a bit more. No more maroon shirts, they must be red, the color of our vests. What a load of crap. Maroon was fine before. I only have like, three shirts that are useable at work now because of this. I told my manager I would need a raise if they were going to do that. I don't think he took me seriously. "Land's End has some really nice polos in the spring time." Fuck that shit.
'Sides, I don't think I'll be working there much longer. I know I've said that before, but when I get back from TN in a week or so, I'm going to toddle on over to Wal*Mart and see what's goin' on over there. My sis says there's a "hiring freeze" after the holidays, which I can understand 'cause it's a slow time for retail, but I figure with the Super Wal*Mart in the makings, they could probably use some new employees soon.
Basically I'm sitting here waiting for an hour to roll by. What do I do to pass the time? I'm trying to come up with a list in my head of all the things I need to bring. That's usually not the best way for me to do things, but since I didn't write a list out beforehand, oh well. Guess if I need something that bad, I can get it in TN or the airport. I'm scared to fall asleep for any length of time, as I might not get back up. I took a 2 hour nap when I got home from work and then started packing for the trip 'cause I put that off 'til the last minute (as usual). That and I don't want to mess up my hair. I'll have plenty of opportunity to do that while sleeping upright in a chair that barely reclines on an airplane. Yeah.
I was trying to decide if Ben was going to come with me, but it turns out I really just don't have enough room for him. I'm sorry Ben! The luggage I bought just wasn't big enough for him. I shall miss you.
This is just a journal about me. My friends, my family, work, and mostly about my life. I write this to keep my family and friends updated with what is going on in my life now that I live two states away from them.

One more day :D
State Motto: Alabama: Hell Yes, We Have Electricity
Music: Lipps Inc. - Funkytown
Well, less than 24 hours until I embark on my journey halfway across the country. Yay! Turns out I only have to work until 10pm, not 11pm. And starting in January, we shall only be open until 9pm. That makes me so happy :)
Also, I finally got a new internal piece to my cell phone so I can use my hands free thing again. I hate trying to talk on the phone and drive at the same time. So that's awesome. It was a spare part from an old phone of the same model as mine, and whoever had it before must've been deaf as all get out, 'cause the volume on that sucker was loud. I had to write down all my contacts in my cell phone from the old internal piece, and then transfer them into the new one once I got it back. Yikes. That took forever.
Seeing as my license plate purse is made of metal and blunt and has a few sharp edges, I don't think I'll be able to get it onto an airplane. So I had to go buy a new purse. Finding a new purse is hard enough. Finding one that you're only going to use for 8 days...somehow...even more difficult. Called the airport to find out if it would be okay yesterday. The first lady I talked to said, "I think you'd have a problem getting that onto an airplane," but then she transferred me to the head of security or something like that, and he said that he didn't think it would be a problem, but that it really just depended on the security guards on duty that day and what they thought. He also said I could put it on my luggage that goes under the plane. No thanks.
Also, cleaning my apartment is quite the task. I need to do a better job of keeping it clean for most of the time instead of just cleaning it once every month or whenever I have someone coming over (which is probably about once a month...).

Lyrics
Music: Jalan Crossland - A Minstrel's Wage
I just liked this part of the song...thought it kinda fit me lol.
I just liked this part of the song...thought it kinda fit me lol.
Well I'm dreadfully lazy, independently poor
Sit on my ass 'til it's calloused and sore
And strum this guitar in spite of it all
Be it in passion or simply petulant gall
Maroon 5 - Sunday Morning
This song just makes me melt every time I hear it. I love, love, love it. Wes says it sounds like Jamiriquois, but I think he's on crack.
Sunday morning, rain is falling
Steal some covers, share some skin
Clouds are shrouding us in moments unforgettable
You twist to fit the mold that I am in
But things just get so crazy,
Living life gets hard to do
And I would gladly hit the road, get up and go if I knew
That someday it would lead me back to you
That someday it would lead me back to you
That may be all I need
In darkness she is all I see
Come and rest your bones with me
Driving slow on Sunday morning
And I never want to leave
Fingers trace your every outline
Paint a picture with my hands
Back and forth we sway like branches in a storm
Change the weather still together when it ends
That may be all I need
In darkness she is all I see
Come and rest your bones with me
Driving slow on Sunday morning
And I never want to leave
You may not know
That may be all I need
In darkness she is all I see
Oh, come and rest your bones with me
Driving slow, driving slow (all I need, all I see)
oh yeah yeah oh yeah yeah oh yeah yeah (bones with me)
I'm a flower in your hair
yeah yeah, yeah yeah

sad news
Music: The Judds - Love Can Build a Bridge
I just found out from an old high school friend of mine that someone I graduated with was in a pole vaulting accident back in September, and was paralyzed. He was a popular guy in school, a jock, and definitely could be a jerk...but no one deserves that. I was friends with his step sister during high school, so I kind of knew him through her. Kind of. And another tragedy in the family; his step-dad, my friend's dad, was t-boned in his car while on duty (he's a cop) and barely survived the crash. I believe this happened this month because at Christmas church service Friday night, a prayer was said for him, but I didn't find out what happened until tonight that had us praying for him.
I think they're both going to be okay, but I don't know many details about either incident, just what my friend told me. Just makes me realize how fortunate I am to have never been in any kind of accident with all the stupid-slash-dangerous things I do, including skydiving, climbing up steep rock faces with no gear, crossing the street with my head down, driving down the Interstate at 90+ mph, travelling halfway across the country on an airplane by myself (to meet someone I didn't know in person), and probably tons of other things. I'm not exactly the most careful person in the world. Kinda puts a damper on things, and will probably make me think a little more carefully about the things I do...y'know?
Anyway, I hate to be a downer, but that was just shocking news to me, even though none of you know who I'm talking about...

tra la la la la
Time for a NEW picture
Happy holidays everyone!
Music:
Got home this afternoon for Christmas with the family. We had spaghetti (per my request), went to church, and opened presents when we got home. I know, I know, it's not Christmas yet. Well, it is NOW, but it wasn't when we opened presents, but we just felt like it. That way we can all sleep in Saturday morning. Yay.
From Mom, I got a vacuum cleaner, from Dad, a subwoofer and set of speakers for my laptop 'cause it has really crappy sound all by itself. Love it. Also from Dad, a tool kit because I desperately needed one when I first moved into the apartment, and I asked for something "practical" for Christmas, and that definitely fits the bill. From Sister, a foot tub thing with massagers, bubbles, and heat, plus a pedicure kit to go along with it. From Amy, an angel bear figurine.
I got Wes' CD in the mail yesterday. Hand addressed, my last name spelled wrong, and "Merry Christmas!" scrawled across the package. Made my day. I immediately opened the CD (for my boyfriend) and listened to it. Then I brought it home so my dad could burn a copy of it, which is exactly what I'm going to do when I get back to my apartment :). Wes knew what I was getting him and said that it would be okay if the present was already opened and used when he got it haha. Great. 'Cause I was going to do it, anyway.
Just wanted to wish everyone happy holidays, Merry Christmas, all that good junk :D

more snow!
Music: Phantom Planet - California
Well, it looks like we're going to have a white Christmas after all. I know I've said that before, but this morning it was all sunny and looked like it might melt again. Turns out that we got a ton of snow tonight. Not as much as my friend Peat in Ohio got, but enough to make it slickery.
I had to go get the carts from out of the parking lot tonight a couple times in the snow. Good thing I brought my big coat and had and mittens and stuff...otherwise I would not have been very happy.
One of the managers at work makes me so mad. She's the one who got after me about my white shoes when one of her girls has PINK shoes. Neither of which are BLACK...and she doesn't get after HER girl. Anyway, tonight she came through my line to get dinner, and I was chewing on a caramel, and she goes "Are you eating up here??" like I wasn't supposed to be. Uhhh, EVERY time I talk to her she's always got a peice of hard candy stuck in her mouth, clackin' it around her teeth like my sister always does with her tongue ring. Grr. She makes me so mad sometimes.
Right now I'm watching the movie Spun with Jason Schwartzman (the drummer for Phantom Planet) in it...it's about methamphetamines and all the people who are involved...if you haven't seen it, it's kinda cool, but really fucked up.

I don't have to retake biology!!!
Music: Jennifer Sanders - I Need A Hero
3 Bs and 1 C...pretty good, eh? I thought so. Got rid of that D from last year, and my cumulative GPA is almost 2.9! I've taken 91 credit hours and 36 classes. Busy girl. I'll only have 12 credits again next year, but I'll be taking some summer courses as well, so that will help. And I need to get my rear in gear and get into the College of Ed. Should have done that last year, I think, 'cause it's getting to the point now that all the classes I have to take after next semester will require me to be in the College of Ed.
We finally got some snow tonight. And thank goodness it wasn't that snow that sticks to everything, and it didn't turn to ice first so I didn't have to scrape my windows when I got off work, I just had to dust the very light, powdery, sparkly snow off my car. Yay. We'll have a white Christmas after all. Even though I dispise snow.
I finally got to meet Jill's boyfriend (not sure if they're official yet, but that's what we'll call him for now) tonight, as they came into work so I could meet him. Jill is right, he's a very handsome boy and seemed quite nice. They looked very happy together, and I'm really happy for her, she deserves someone who's good to her.
Sold 2 more digital cameras tonight plus some memory cards to go with them...over $400. Go me. I sold them the cheaper cameras 'cause they didn't look like they were real certain about spending over $200 per camera for their kids, so I figured the lesser priced Pentax Optio would be better for them, and I think they did, too.
Finally got a new battery for my cell phone. The one I had had been recalled because of something or other. Don't think my phone was in any danger of blowing up while I was using it, but hopefully this battery will last longer than 15 minutes when I have it unplugged before it decides it's going to die.
Oh, Shaun of the Dead and Napoleon Dynamite are out on video now, I should rent them. They both look really funny. And who can resist a movie with llamas?? (Everyone knows they loved The Emperor's New Groove, right Jill?)
Anyway, that's enough for tonight. I've learned 8 whole notes on my guitar and can play Yankee Doodle Dandy, Ode to Joy, and Jingle Bells. I rawk.
'Night!

Grades
Music: Shrek 2 soundtrack - Changes
Well, most of my grades are in now, I'm just waiting on the Biology professor to put up that grade. I have 2 Bs, K-8 Music Methods, which I mentioned yesterday, and Music Appreciation, and a C in my Earth and Physical Science class, which kinda sucks, 'cause I got a B in the first half of the semester...so I wonder what went wrong on the test? He probably graded it really super hard even though nothing was explained really clearly in the class discussions. Grr. So now I'm waiting for my Bio grade, which I'm thinking...B. Maybe "hoping" is a better word.
But, so far I don't have to take anything over again! Yay!
Oh, and we got our first bit of snow this morning/last night. Not sure when, but it was there when I got up around noon today. But there wasn't even enough of it to stick to the streets and sidewalks. We're supposed to get a little more snow tomorrow, Tuesday, but who knows how long that stuff's gonna stick around. I just hope we don't get a bunch of snow the night/morning I have to drive to the airport...

work sucks
Man, I hate working during the holidays. I'm always scheduled to work out on the floor, but half an hour after I've arrived, they always pull me up to the registers for a couple of hours because no one schedules enough cashiers up front. Makes me mad.
The Softlines manager had called me up to the front just as I was beginning to help a customer in Electronics, so I ignored the page because I was busy helping someone and wasn't going to just abandon him. Then the Electronics manager, Tristan, went into the back to see if we had any more of this portable DVD player that the guy was interested in. While Tristan was in the back, the Softlines manager called me and yelled at me for not coming up to the registers right away. It was bullshit. So then I was all pissy for the next hour or so. That was fun.
I was really super tired, too, so I took a caffiene pill that I'd put in my pocket like, a month ago. I was so jittery and shakey for the next hour or so after I took that...It was weird, I thought I was going to get sick or something.
It was just a poopy day. I think tomorrow I am going to try, yet again, to get renter's insurance, mail out Christmas gifts, and do absolutely nothing because I don't work :) Oh, and I'm learning a lot on my guitar, like figuring out how to tune it all by myself with a tuner (since I've never used one and it didn't come with instructions lol) and I've learned three notes and a couple songs, but I couldn't tell you the notes in any particular order...or what their names are, except...four of them. Out of six. That's not bad.
OH! And I just found out that I have a B in my K-8 Music Methods class that I dispised so much. That just made my day so much better!

Awww crap
Music: Ben Harper - Strawberry Fields Forever (I Am Sam soundtrack)
Thanks everyone for the "end of semester happiness." I hope everyone who reads this and is in school did as well (or better) as I did on their finals! And for those of you who aren't in school...more power to ya lol. (As long as you graduated first and didn't just drop out.)
Anyway. I just got my holiday schedule for work. I work LATE the day before Christmas Eve, and EARLY the day after Christmas, so that means I will get to spend Xmas Eve and Xmas at home, but only those days. Oh well. Just glad that I have Christmas Eve off. I also realized that I have to work 'til 11pm the night before I fly to see Wes, and that I have to leave at 4 the next morning to get to the airport on time. YUCK. I hope Amy drives me there haha. And that I sleep through most of my flights, 'cause I bet I do. That's gonna suck.
But, I have a fun-filled day of work and "up to 50% off" sales to deal with tomorrow and Sunday, so I shall be off to bed. Happy Weekend everyone!

dum duh duh duh duh DONNNNNNNE
Music: Harry Chapin - 30,000 Pounds of Bananas
My dad yesterday was very insistant that I download this song by Harry Chapin, and Six String Orchestra by him because when he plays guitar in the 2nd song, It's all out of tune. He said I'd appreciate it lol. Then he sent me Six String Orchestra in an email. Plus pictures of the kitties playing in a shopping bag. Maybe I'll put those up later. Dad might get mad 'cause they're pictures that he took. So we'll see.
I am officially done with school for this semester. I got up this morning to take my Biology final at 8am, was done by 8:20am and came back home to get some sleep. Sleep, my favorite thing to do! I'll get to do it a lot more now that school's out 'cause I always work in the afternoons and never come in before Noon. That so rocks.
Guitar is going slowly. I've come to the decision that I just need a tuner. That seems to be the root of all my problems. Grant at work said he had one I could use, but I don't know if/when I could get it from him...hmmm.

Tenderness
Music: Radney Foster and Pat Green - Texas in 1880
Man, do my fingers hurt. And does tuning a guitar by ear suck, or what?
Also, no food sucks. And finals at 8am suck.
But, I did get to go shopping today with the family and Amy in Rapid City, so that was fun. I got myself a Starter's Guitar Kit, a new pair of black pants for work, new pair of sneakers, Rollercoaster Tycoon 2, and some pajamas. Then my sister got me a bubbling foot spa thingie to soak my feet in with some lotions and stuff for a "self pedicure" for Christmas. I got her a Pacman game for her PS2 that she wanted so badly. I still need to get Amy and my dad their presents. I got Lacey someting really cool that I think she'll like a lot, I just need to get her address so I can send it to her.
I'm almost done with finals, I have 12 days 'til I get to go see Wes, things are going well between us again, and I should be getting some more hours at work, so that will be good.
I haven't written my first song yet :P but I did learn the beginning to a couple of different songs, and hopefully with my starter's kit, I'll be able to do a lot better. :)
UPS
Music: Jimmy Eat World - Work
The UPS place just called me to tell me that my package was in, but the label was scratched really bad so they needed to verify the information. And that my guitar will be delivered today :D YAY! Happy, happy, joy, joy.
I woke up at like, 7am lol.
I have declared today National Laundry Day, which means I need to find some quarters because I only have enough for one load of laundry. Good thing I sold my books back yesterday. Well, one book because I keep my books for my major, and sell back the gen. ed. ones. It was Tuesday, the second day to sell your books back, and they were already full of the Biology book! I'll have to sell it back next semester or something. But my Music book was worth $43.50, so that was not too shabby, considering they usually rip you off. Probably a good thing I don't remember how much I paid for it in the first place...
I seem to have misplaced my hairbrush, and I have a freckle that's a nuisance. It's not bigger than a pencil eraser, it's not irregularly shaped, and it's not irregularly colored. But, it's itchy, tender, and I think I itched the first layer of brown off of it. Hope it's nothing serious.
Well, I must be off, to sit and await the arrival of my guitar. Patiently.
*Update*
3 and a half hours later, and it's still not here. *sigh*

There's no crying in baseball!!
Haven't posted in a few days. Kinda busy with finals and all that good stuff. I have half of them taken care of already, I take one more tomorrow, and the last on Friday. Then it's work work work for Andrea.
Went to Applebee's tonight with Amy for some appetizers, desserts, and a drink. Good combination, right? Then a few hours later we went to the pancake feed for the students who needed a study break. Pancakes and weiners. Mmm mmm good. Oh, that's Campbell's Soup, sorry.
My guitar was shipped today, it's in Kansas City, Kansas, which I think is about 10 hours from here. So hopefully it will be here in the next couple days.
Don't have to wake up early tomorrow. Yay! And tonight, a ninja said I was beautiful. Oh, and I'm watching A League of Their Own, hence the title (and my MSN screen name). I guess I haven't been really exciting lately, I apologize. Not enough turmoil in my life, apparently, since that's about the only thing I write about. I just can't wait 'til my guitar gets here and I have something to do over winter break. Wee!
Hopefully I'll be more fun next time :) Happy studying!

YAY!
Music: Weezer - No One Else
I'm getting a guitar!!!!! I just ordered it today before my LAST EVER physics class. It should be here in 2-5 business days. I'm aiming for 5, so I'm not disappointed. It's left-handed, an Ibanez, acoustic guitar. I'm very excited.
Too bad her beginner's guitar class is full. Maybe I'll put myself on the wait list. Tee hee. Yeah. That's what I'll do. Someone's bound to drop it. Even if they don't, I should take it in and ask her to help me tune it. Tee hee. Yes. I'm strangely obsessed with this...and I'm not sure why. I apologize.
**Update**
Turns out my parking ticket that I refused to pay is keeping me from registering for any more classes. I'll have to take care of that tomorrow, if I can.
**And now back to your regularly posted blogging**
No more classes!!!!!!!!! Just finals on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. Then three weeks of freedom! And Tennessee!!
Happy happy joy joy!

No such thing as being left-handed??
Music: Jimmy Eat World - Night Drive
Okay. So my K-8 Music Methods teacher is a moron. She honestly expects me to believe that there's no "right-handed" or "left-handed" way of playing guitar, or any stringed instrument, for that matter. You just play it (right-handed). What about Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, or Paul McCartney?? Pretty sure they all play the guitar the "wrong" way.
She told me, "Take my 'beginner's guitar' class next year, and you'll see." Well, if I'm taking your beginner's guitar class, I'm going to have a left-handed guitar, or even a right-handed one restrung so I can play it. I told her "I tried learning it right-handed, and there was no way it was happening, it's so much easier for me left-handed."
"It doesn't matter!"
*BLEEP* YOU LADY. (I'm trying not to swear as much, sorry.) God. It does too matter. It's a little something called dexterity.
I don't know why this makes me so mad, I really don't. I'm not even going to take that class next year because I know I would just get into it with her, and probably recieve a poor grade because of it. And I don't really need my GPA much lower than it is now. But Christ lady. Get a fucking clue. All ways are not your ways.
*sigh*
Glad I got that off my chest.

Clark Kent is hitting on me
Music: Enzyte Commercial Muzak
There's this guy at work who was hitting on me allllllll night. I don't work up at the registers very often, but I was tonight, and I think I know why I don't work at the registers anymore. Oh, and he looks like a young version of Christopher Reeve, like when he was Superman. Only his hair's not wavy...
"Can I have a bite of your Slim Jim?"
"Can I have a drink of your water?"
"She called you 'buns' not 'bums.'"
"Well she can't help it, look at those pants you wear."
"Why can't I have some of your water?"
"If you weren't out of water, would you let me have some?"
"I don't want water from the drinking fountain."
Ugh. Took him ten minutes to bag out his register, I was almost finished by the time he was done, and I started 7 minutes after him.
Drives me nuts.

Pearl Harbor sucks, and I miss you
Music: The Wallflowers - I'm Looking Through You (Beatles cover)
So today I'm up front and I see that Perkins has their flag at half-mast. Hmm. I ask someone up front why this is. She says, "Maybe one of our soldiers in our district was killed overseas?" Which is very possible. So I shrugged in agreement and wandered off, completely satisfied with this answer, and forgot about it until I came home from work and talked to my friend Peat.
Turns out today is December 7th. I know this may not have a lot of meaning to you. Well, maybe it does if you remember your American History, unlike myself (hey, I got a D in it, what do you expect??). Today is the anniversary of the attack at Pearl Harbor. Now, maybe if they'd re-released that crappy movie or something, I would have remembered. But nope. Completely oblivious.
But my screen name on MSN, which I've had for a week now, tyvm, is "Pearl Harbor sucks, and I miss you," in honor of Team America, World Police, quite possibly the most retardedly funny movie out now. How appropriate, right? Perhaps inappropriate is the word I'm looking for. Who knows.

Quizilla
Music: Widespread Panic - Driving Song
Stole these from Adam. Again. I need to take more quizzes so I can stop stealing them from friends...I don't know if I agree with this, 'cause Jamie isn't particularly my favorite song. But I guess that's not what it's judging, is it?

*Jamie*
You are my hero...a true Weezer fan. You don't get
caught up in the nonsense. You love music and
it loves you. Just like "Jamie," you
might not always be appreciated for how
supercool you are, but it's only because not
everyone is smart enough to look for it.
What Weezer song are you?
brought to you by Quizilla

Mary. After going through some hard times, you're
pretty close to figuring it out. You just live
life the way you want to, become friends with
who you want to, and have along the way. You're
emotionally strong & independent. Good job!
